Pu'uhonua Society - Ho'omau Nā Maka o ka 'Āina

Pu'uhonua Society creates opportunities for Native Hawaiian and Hawai'i-based artists and cultural practitioners to express themselves and engage with and impact audiences, supporting artists and makers who serve as translators, mediators, and amplifiers of social justice issues in the community.

For over 50 years, they've worked to preserve and uplift Native Hawaiian culture while supporting artists and practitioners rooted in Hawai'i by supporting basic needs through direct-to-artist grants, commissions, studio space, and professional development. They create accessible platforms through exhibitions, archives, libraries, film screenings, and publications, and nurture health and healing through workshops, gatherings, mentorships, fiscal sponsorships, and fellowships.
