Building Community Power Since 1972!
HPF is the only organization in the world specifically addressing the needs of grassroots progressive movement builders in Hawaiʻi by directing community-raised funds and progressive funding opportunities to those on the ground engaged in the work.

Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea 2026
In 1985, Hawaiian patriot Dr. Kekuni Blaisdell, renowned leader of the modern Hawaiian movement, reestablished the celebration of Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea, Sovereignty Restoration Day, at Thomas Square, as a vehicle to reclaim and restore self determination. Through decades of grassroots organizing, this renewed observance has manifested in a unique space for dialogue and education on critical Kanaka Maoli issues, and serves as a safe space to rally commitments and move them towards ACTION The main event in Honolulu is on Sunday, July 26th at Thomas Square, preceded by multiple free, public opportunities in July and August to commemorate, celebrate, and educate while building community capacity to exercise EA today and into the future.
