Ka Lamakū La’akea, the sacred light within, or the torch of the sacred light. Their mission is to bring light to the world, to elevate and to expand human consciousness through healing, prayer, and ceremony, through perpetuation & practice of ‘ōlelo Hawai’i and Hawaiian culture, by fostering spiritual wayfinding and awareness. Ka Lamakū La’akea hopes to grow their collective capacity to meet the community’s increasing need for kapa by raising awareness of a traditional practice that is viable, vibrant, and very alive in the 21st century through the production of a 10-15 minute documentary film that follows the journey of a group of wahine that answer the call of kūpuna to create kapa that will be gifted to iwi kūpuna on Maui.
