Kūkulu Kumuhana o Anahola’s genesis sprang forth from the collective grief over a number of youth/young adult suicides and suicide attempts in the Hawaiian Homelands community of Anahola on the island of Kauaʻi. KKOA works to assist its young people in developing life skills that will strengthen their identity through Hawaiian values, build self-esteem, and offer support in successfully managing their futures as a community.
As our communities grapple with health, social, and economic repercussions of the pandemic, addressing evolving issues in a culturally-sensitive manner, specifically to the Hawaiian community, and nurturing the culture, foodways, and heritage of our youth has never been so important.
MAHALO to Kūkulu Kumuhana o Anahola for your love of our keiki and ʻōpio!
